COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Iowa State divers took to the three-meter board Thursday in the Mizzou Invitational. Sydney Ronald and Dana Liva both scored high enough in preliminary competition to advance to Thursday night's finals.
In the preliminary round, 33 divers took to the three-meter board, with the top-12 advancing to the finals. Liva and Ronald placed 10th and 11th respectively in prelims to secure a pair of slots in the finals. Katherine Mueller would end the day 25th scoring 198.70.
The night round of diving showed improvement for both divers. Liva gained 7.70 points to earn a 252.35 total score. Ronald would elevate her score by over 35 points to a 277.00, just shy of the 280 Zone Championships mark. The improvement for Ronald pushed her up to seventh overall on the three-meter. Liva finished in 11th.
"The divers, Sydney and Dana, did what they needed to this morning to get to finals," said diving coach Jeff Warrick. "I was also happy to see improvement in the finals round."
