AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sophomore Logan Schaben was named the Big 12 Player of the Week today following an outstanding weekend at the plate vs. Texas Tech. The native of Portsmouth, Iowa, helped lead the Cyclones to their first Big 12 series win of the season, taking two out of three games from the Red Raiders. This is the first Big 12 weekly award of Schaben's career.
Schaben had one of the best offensive performances of her Cyclone career, going 4-of-8 with two home runs, a double, four RBIs and three runs scored in Lubbock. Schaben, who tallied a 1.375 slugging percentage over the weekend, also drew a pair of walks for a .600 on-base percentage.
The sophomore went 2-of-4 on Saturday in game two, leading the charge as the Cyclones rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat TTU. Her fourth-inning, two-run bomb to center field would ultimately prove to be the difference as ISU secured the series victory with a 7-5 comeback.
Schaben also went yard with a solo shot to right field in Sunday's series finale, her third home run in the last four games.
