Two Cyclone Golfers Qualify For U.S. Senior Open

AMES, Iowa – Two Iowa State graduates and former Cyclone golfers will participate at the 2018 United States Senior Open, June 28-July 1 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Jon Petersen, a teaching professional in Omaha, Neb., and Ned Zachar, an amateur who currently resides in Bedford, N.Y., will be among the 158 players competing this weekend.
Zachar, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, qualified with a 69 at the Suburban Golf Club in Union, N.J. Zachar is a 1985 Iowa State graduate and was ISU's low scorer at the at the 1982 Big Eight Tournament.
Petersen, who is originally from Carroll, Iowa, qualified with a 70 at the Briarwood Golf Club in Ankeny, Iowa. Petersen is a 1989 Iowa State graduate and was ISU's low scorer at the 1989 Big Eight Tournament.
