AMES, Iowa - Iowa State sophomores Jake Sullivan and Shane Power were honored by the Big 12 Conference today, earning men's basketball academic all-Big 12 accolades.
Sullivan, a native of Oakdale, Minn., earned first-team honors and Power, who hails from Crown Point, Ind., was named to the second team. First team members must have a 3.20-plus GPA and second team honorees must have a 3.0-plus GPA.
Sullivan and Power have been instrumental members of the ISU men's basketball team this season. Sullivan is currently second on the team in scoring at 16.5 ppg and tops on the squad in three-pointers with 58. Sullivan is currently fifth nationally in three-point shooting accuracy at 47.5 percent and sixth in the nation in free-throw percentage (90.5).
Power is the only Cyclone to start every game this season, averaging 13.7 ppg and 4.6 rpg. Power leads the team with 34 steals and is second on the squad in assists with 72.
