Lawrence, Kan. ? The Iowa State women's golf squad will compete at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational at the Alvamar Golf Club hosted by the University of Kansas Oct. 2-3. Freshman Pennapa Pulsawath placed 10th individually to lead ISU in its season opener, a seventh-place finish at the Lady Badger Invitational. The first round is set to start Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Iowa State placed three individuals in the top 25 at the Wisconsin Invitational, battling swirling winds and rain through the last round of action to tally a final-round total of 312. Junior Kendra Hanson recorded a team-low 75 in the final round and finished tied for 19th, while senior Christi Athas placed 23rd. Karly Pinder shot her best round of the tournament with a third-round score of 78 to finish 31st. Jessica Shin finished 46th to round out the ISU scoring. Pulsawath leads the team in stroke average after one event at 76.66.
Iowa State has already competed against three (Wisconsin, Kansas State, Illinois State) of the 16 teams slated to participate.
ISU ends October by competing at the College of Charleston Invite in Kiawah Island, S.C.
