Eight Cyclones Named Academic All-Big 12

AMES, Iowa ? Eight Iowa State soccer student-athletes were named Academic All-Big 12, the conference office announced today.

Seniors Maggie McManemin and Beth Passman, juniors Elisa Berzins and Amanda Purple, and sophomores Lauren Fader, Ann Gleason and Lauren Odino were named to the first team. Student-athletes carrying a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or that same average over the past two semesters qualified for the first team. Either senior athletic eligibility or 60 percent of the team's games played were also requirements.

Sophomore Elise Reid was selected to the second team. The same qualifications for first team were in place for the second team, with the change being the required GPA of 3.0.

McManemin made her third appearance on the team while Berzins, Passman and Purple have achieved the feat twice each. Fader, Gleason, Odino and Reid made the team in their first year of eligibility. Freshmen do not qualify for the award.
