AMES, Iowa ? For the second consecutive week, Iowa State freshman Kelsey Bolte was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Bolte averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in contests against Texas and Nebraska last week. The guard shot 51.7 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range.
In the game at Texas, Bolte was just shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, to go with two steals. Against Nebraska, Bolte was 4-of-6 from three-point range and finished with 20 points, six rebounds, an assist and two steals in 37 minutes.
The Ida Grove, Iowa, native is leading Iowa State in scoring through four Big 12 Conference games, with 21 points per contest, and ranks third in the league in conference scoring only.
Baylor senior Angela Tisdale was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week after she averaged 21 points and five rebounds last week in victories over Kansas and 11th-ranked Oklahoma. In the two games, she shot 43.3 percent (13-30) from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line at 10-of-10. Tisdale poured in 35 points against the Sooners to lead all scorers. In Baylor's 59-35 victory over Kansas, Tisdale registered seven points and hauled down six rebounds in 25 minutes on the court. She also added four assists and a blocked shot.
The Cyclones will travel to No. 22 Kansas State on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game against the Wildcats.
