Upcoming Event: Women's Basketball versus UW-Oshkosh (Ex.) on October 28, 2025 at 6:30 PM

10.28.2008 | Women's Basketball
In order to give Cyclone fans an inside look at the Iowa State women's basketball team throughtout the season, head coach Bill Fennelly and members of the ISU team will be posting a weekly blog at cyclones.com on each Tuesday throughout the school year.
Fans will have a chance to hear directly from Coach Fennelly throughout the season about how practice is going, how the team is doing during the season, and what he sees as the staples of the ISU women's basketball program. Players will talk to you each week about their perspective of school life, practices, games, and the daily hurdles of being a Division I student-athlete.
This week, senior Heather Ezell tells you how practice has gone and how excited she is to finally get to play a game Sunday against Buena Vista. Next week, fellow senior Toccara Ross will update you on her status and talk to you about her strong desire to get back on the court following a knee scope last Friday.
Hello Cyclones Fans,
I am not sure about you, but I can not believe we have a game in less than a week ... five days to be exact. WOW. It seems like just yesterday I was walking off the court at Wells Fargo Arena and now it's the first exhibition game of my senior season! Time really does fly by when you are having fun! How exciting it is to be a senior, but it 's sad to think about this being my last year. So let 's not talk about it now...
We have been working really hard in practice these past few weeks and although we might not always do the right thing, we are at least playing really hard. Everyone is buying into the system and understanding their role on the team which is great. It's nice to have Aus (Alison Lacey) back in practice and we are missing having T (Toccara Ross) in there since she always makes her presence known. We also have a great group of guys on our scout team that are helping us out this year. We really enjoy practicing against them, but I think everyone can agree with me that we are ready to play Buena Vista in front of all our loyal fans instead of the scout team in an empty gym.
I am excited for the exhibition game as it will really prove a lot about where we are as a team. It will be nice to get in game situations and see how everyone reacts. I am sure we won't do everything right in the game, but we will play hard. It will give us a good indication of what we will have to work on in practice next week. It is also a chance to get all the nerves and first-game jitters out before the season officially starts Nov. 16. Aside from getting out there and playing in a game, I am really excited about playing in front of the best fans in the country!
I still can't believe I am a senior and doing all of the "last" things. I just made my schedule for my last semester of classes at Iowa State, and like most seniors I tried to save all my "easy" classes for this time. My schedule will include the last of my marketing and management classes, a couple of online electives, and of course Golf! I am really excited to take a class like golf since it will allow me to work on my game three days a week before I graduate and get into the business world where it might actually be needed. It was nice to finish my last day of preseason and get through that nervous first day of practice for the last time. I am also trying not to let any of the time slip away without really appreciating it. I don't want to look back on my senior year and wish I would have done more. Even when it's one of those days when I would rather just lay in bed all day with my cat and never get up. :)
Well like most of you I really can't wait for this season to get underway and see what this team is really capable of. Thank you for all your nice comments when I see you around Ames. I always enjoying seeing you around town and getting the time to talk to you. You truly are the best fans in the country!
Until next time have a great day and GO Cyclones!
