BOULDER CITY, Nev.- Iowa State sophomores Victoria Stefansen and Rachel Reed both carded career lows (72) in the second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Tuesday afternoon. The Cyclone women's golf team shot the sixth best round of 18 teams participating, posting a season-low 289.
As a team, the Cyclones have a two-round total of 601, sitting in 17th place heading into tomorrow's final round. No. 19 Pepperdine broke away from the rest of the competition, carding an impressive 18-under 270.
Stefansen and Reed played the best rounds of their short careers with their even-par tally. Reed is currently in a tie for 53rd place (148), and Stefansen is close behind in a tie for 59th place. Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey fired a second-round best 65 on Tuesday to take over the lead in the medalist race.
The third and final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
