AMES, Iowa - It was a night to remember as the players who played a significant role in the rise of Iowa State volleyball returned to Hilton Coliseum to face the current batch of Cyclones.
With banners in the rafters that signified the past success it was the current Cyclones who owned the night, winning all four sets by scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-23, 25-15.
The Cyclones were led by Carly Jenson, who registered 16 kills and hit .438. Rachel Hockaday was the only other player in double-figures, finishing with 10 kills for the Cyclones, who hit .295 as a team.
The alumni team, which was composed of nine players who were all members of the 2006 team that was the second in school history to reach the postseason, was led by eight kills from Lauren (Cummings) Larson. Nicole (Lorenzen) Atchison and Mary Bisenius added seven kills each.
Defensively, Victoria Henson finished with a team-high 16 digs to lead the current Cyclones. Kaylee Manns, who just wrapped up an All-American career, paced the alumni with a match-high 17 digs.
The Cyclones will be in action again Saturday, April 10 against Sweet 16 participant Illinois at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa.
