Chayanun Extends Lead at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The Iowa State women's golf team moved up a spot and is in second place behind Arkansas (585) through two rounds at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

The Cyclones carded a 294 today (587) to get within two shots of the Razorbacks.

Iowa State senior Chonlada Chayanun continues to be one of the top stories of the tournament. Chayanun shot her second-straight sub-70 round today (69) to extend her lead in the medalist race by a whopping eight shots (66-69=135) heading into tomorrow's final round.

It mark's Chayanun's fourth sub-70 effort in her last five rounds. She carded a 66 yesterday, which is the second-best lowest 18-hole round in school history, to sit at 9-under through 36 holes. Elise Bradley of LSU is in second place at 143.

Freshman Nattapan Siritrai shot an even-par 72 today to bring her 36-hole total to 148 (T15th). Celia Barquin is tied for 32nd after shooting a 77 (151) and junior Cajsa Persson shot a 76 after a 77 yesterday (T41).

The final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic will conclude tomorrow.
