TORONTO – Incoming Iowa State women's basketball freshman Bridget Carleton was named to Canada's 12-member U19 Women's National team. Carleton is Iowa State's first signee from Canada and will compete for the Cyclones beginning in the 2015-16 season.
“Bridget playing at the U19 world championships is a great opportunity for her,” head coach Bill Fennelly said. “She will playing against some of the best young players in the world and that experience will really help her as a college player.”
Carleton, a native of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, will compete in the FIBA U19 World Championships from July 12-26 after completing training camp from July 2-10.
Carleton has also been a member of Canada's U16, U17 and U18 teams and was a starter on the U18 Junior National Team. Through 20 international games, she has averaged 11.7 points for Canada. Carleton was the No. 1 recruit in Canada's 2015 class.
