AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm announced today the addition of Brady Ernst, a prep standout from Clinton, Iowa. Ernst is eligible to play starting with the 2015-16 season.
Ernst, a 6-8 forward, chose the Cyclones late in the process after suffering a torn ACL in late February. Ernst had multiple Division I offers prior to suffering the setback. He's expected to be able to resume full participation in September.
“We are excited to get Brady into our program,” Prohm said. “Brady is a guy that I think has a good upside. He's very skilled, a good athlete and he comes from a very good family. He'll provide us with depth. Because it was so late in the process, I wanted to make sure he met what we were looking for which was character, toughness and ability.”
Ernst averaged 16.7 points and 12 rebounds before suffering the season-ending injury. He shot 60 percent from the field and had 58 blocks en route to earning all-state honors. He earned second-team all-state honors from the Iowa Newspaper Association.
Ernst was a 1,000-point scorer and left Clinton as its all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
Ernst played for the Iowa Barnstormers on the AAU Circuit.
