Minasola Promoted to Associate Head Coach
07.21.2016 | Gymnastics
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State gymnastics head coach Jay Ronayne announced the promotion of Katie Minasola to Associate Head Coach. Minasola will be beginning her sixth season as a member of the ISU coaching staff during the 2017 gymnastics season.
"Katie has provided a tremendous amount of leadership, and passion for the sport over the past five years," Ronayne said. "She has been our lead recruiter, and an invaluable part of the Cyclone Gymnastics staff."
Minasola has been responsible for Iowa State's balance beam squad, along with assisting on the choreography of the Cyclones' floor exercise routines. She has overseen the development of a pair of Iowa State All-Americans on the beam, as Michelle Shealy earned First Team All-America honors at the 2013 NCAA Gymnastics Championships, while Caitlin Brown was a 2015 Second-Team Regular Season All-American on beam in 2015.
Her role in recruiting has been crucial the past few seasons, as Iowa State has built up a core of young gymnasts that will fill the ISU roster in 2017. Among her recruiting accomplishments was assembling the seven-gymnast Class of 2014 that included Hilary Green, Briana Ledesma, Kelsey Paz and Haylee Young. Her hard work on the recruiting trail also featured last season's strong recruiting class that included NCAA Championships qualifier Meaghan Sievers and will welcome six newcomers to the 2017 team.
"I am extremely pleased to announce her promotion," Ronayne concluded. "I look forward to what she will bring to our program as she begins her new role as Associate Head Coach."
