MADISON, Wisc. – The No. 14 Iowa State men's cross country team took 16th place at the 2017 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
Sophomore Andrew Jordan was outstanding for the Cyclones today. He raced to a 24th-place finish with an 8k time of 24:05. Newcomer Festus Lagat also turned in a solid race for Martin Smith, taking 90th behind a time of 24:39.
Sophomores Stanley Langat, Sam Clausnitzer and Thomas Pollard were the other three Cyclones counted in the team tally. Langat finished 103rd at 24:47, Clausnitzer finished 127th with a 24:55 clip and Pollard clocked in at 24:57 for 132nd overall.
Juniors John Nownes (25:07 – 157th) and Dan Curts (25:16 – 179th) also ran in the varsity race for Iowa State.
Iowa State had three runners compete in the "B Race". Ricardo Banuelos finished 56th in 25:54, Zach Black took 65th in 26:06 and Greyson Dolezal crossed the finish in 26:12 for a 68th-place finish.
The Cyclones will get a two-week rest before beginning their post season campaign at the Big 12 Championships. The conference championships are set for Saturday, Oct. 28th at 10 a.m. in Round Rock Texas.
