Cyclones Land 12 On Academic All-Big 12 First Team

AMES, Iowa – Twelve members of the Iowa State soccer program have been recognized by the Big 12 Conference for their achievements in the classroom, the league announced today. All 12 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
The recipients include Riley Behan, Hannah Cade, Brianna Curtis, Lindsey Hendon, Carly Langhurst, Klasey Medelberg, Merin Mundt, Kasey Opfer, Antonia Reyes, Emily Steil, Sasha Stinson and Stella Maris Strohman.
It is the fourth consecutive year that 12 Cyclones have been named to Academic All-Big 12 teams. It is the third time Strohman and Hendon have earned the honor, while Medelberg, Opfer, Steil and Behan are now two-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees.
In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must earn a GPA of at least 3.20 to make the first team or 3.00 to make the second team. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible for the award in their first year of academic residence.
Iowa State concluded its 2017 season on Friday with a 2-1 victory over Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas.
