IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 12 Iowa State men's cross country team made light work of the six teams competing at the Hawkeye Invitational. The Cyclone runners swept the event, defeating all six teams in the head-to-head dual-style event.
Iowa State placed six runners in the top-9, with all nine Cardinal and Gold competitors in the top-30. The Cyclones were paced by newcomer Festus Lagat (17:49), who won the event individually.
Joining Lagat in the top-10 was No. 3 Nathan Rodriguez (17:50.54), No. 4 Andrew Jordan (17:50.89), No. 6 Thomas Pollard (17:53), No. 7 Stanley Langat (17)55) and No. 9 John Nownes (18:02).
Rounding out the Iowa State lineup in Iowa City was No. 16 Zach Black (18:26), No. 22 Greyson Dolezal (18:40) and No. 27 Ricardo Banuelos (18:53).
The Iowa State men will be back in action at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sept. 23.
