- Sophomore Ashley Joens, is off to a historic start to her sophomore season, and is currently averaging a double-double with 24.0 points and 11.3 rebounds. Joens' season average is trending close to Iowa State's single-season scoring record was set last season by senior Bridget Carleton at 21.7 points per game.Â
- Joens is currently first in the Big 12 in scoring and second in the nation, averaging 24.0 points per game, while her 11.3 rebounds ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 12th nationally. Joens remains the only player in the NCAA averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and shooting over 40 percent from the floor.
- Joens also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line. She ranks first nationally in free throws made (98), and first in free throws attempted (115). Her 85.2 percent at the charity stripe also ranks 46th nationally and first in the Big 12. As a team, Iowa State ranks fifth nationally with 216 free throws made.
- Junior Kristin Scott picked up right where she left off last season, earning a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 team. Scott is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points, despite playing limited minutes earlier this season. Scott is also second in rebounding, averaging 7.0 boards per game.
- Joens and Scott each found themselves on a pair of preseason watch lists, with Joens being named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, which honors the nation's top small forward. Scott on the other hand, was named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List, which honors the country's best center. Scott is the first Cyclone to be named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List. Scott is also on the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List, which honors the nation's top player.
- Junior Rae Johnson is tied for third in the Big 12 in assists per game, averaging 4.7. Johnson has dished five or more assists in five games this season.
- Iowa State currently ranks 23rd nationally in blocked shots per game (5.2 BPG). Scott leads ISU, averaging 2.0 blocks per game on the year, while Ines Nezerwa is averaging 1.1 per game.
- The 2019-20 season marks the 25th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 18 NCAA Tournament appearances.
