The Cyclones lead the all-time series 20-18, and are 6-9 at the Erwin Center. Iowa State is looking to avoid the sweep, having lost against UT 81-75. Iowa State is 3-2 in the last five meetings in Austin.

- Sophomore Ashley Joens, is off to a historic start to her sophomore season, and is currently averaging a double-double with 21.3 points and 10.5 rebounds and has claimed a league-high five Big 12 weekly honors. Joens also ranks seventh in the league in field-goal percentage, 46.4 percent. She has the highest field-goal percentage of any Big 12 guard.
- Joens is currently first in the Big 12 in scoring and fourth in the nation, averaging 21.3 points per game, while her 10.5 rebounds ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 17th nationally, the most of any guard in the league. Joens remains the only player in the NCAA averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds. Joens is also the only player in the Big 12 ranking in the top-5 in points and rebounds for the season.
- Joens also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line, as she leads the nation with 173 fouls drawn. As a result, she ranks second nationally in free throws made (143), and second-nationally in free throws attempted (176).
- Junior Kristin Scott picked up right where she left off last season, earning a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 team. Scott is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.7 points. Scott is also second in rebounding, averaging 7.2 boards per game. Scott has kicked things up a notch since the start of Big 12 play averaging 16.7 points and shot 52.0 percent from the field in Big 12 action.
- Joens and Scott have been one of the best one-two punches in the Big 12. Joens ranks fourth in conference play with 18.5 points, with Scott sixth with 16.7 points per game. The duo are also two of the most efficient in league play, with Scott connecting on 52.0 percent of her shots and Joens 46.6 percent. Both rank second and fifth.
- Senior Adriana Camber is third in the Big 12 in 3-point percentage in league contests, shooting at a 44.3 percent clip from beyond the arc. Camber is also averaging 2.45 a game in conference action, which is fourth in the conference.
- Since 1999-00, only seven Division I guards or guard/forwards have averaged over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and shot 46.0 percent from the floor. Joens is currently on pace to do so. She joins Delaware's Elena Delle Donne and former Big 12 Player of the Year Brittney Martin as two of the women's basketball players on the list.
- The 2019-20 season marks the 25th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. Fennelly boasts a 519-270 record at Iowa State and a 685-323 record in his 32-year career as a head coach. His 685 career wins lists him in the top-15 in the NCAA among active coaches in Division I and in the top-50 winningest coaches all-time.

- The Iowa State women's basketball team avoided the sweep against the Sooners, 63-59. The Cyclones struggled offensively, but held OU to 33.9 percent from the field. ISU held as much as a 15-point lead, but OU erased it and turned it into a 4-point ISU deficit with 4:28 to go. ISU would go on an 8-0 run to seal the game.
- Kristin Scott led ISU in scoring with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Scott also added three blocks to her stat line. Ashley Joens was incredible, netting 17 points and 15 rebounds. She exited the game in the third quarter with a dislocated shoulder and returned to score seven points and grab seven 4th quarter rebounds.
- Lastly, Adriana Camber (12) rounded out the Cyclones in double figures. She went 3-of-6 from long range.
