Cyclones to Host Winter Softball Camp

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team is set to host a two-day winter camp at the Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility. The camp is set for Jan. 8-9 for anyone entering grades seven through 12.

What: 2022 Winter Softball Camp
When: Jan. 8 (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) / Jan. 9 (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Where: Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility 1900 S 4th St, Ames, IA 50011
Who: For those in grades 7-12

The pitching and catching session will include instruction on proper mechanics of pitching, mental approach and strategies of pitching, as well as the proper mechanics of catching, strategies of pitch calling and pitcher-catcher relationship.

The hitting session will include instruction on proper hitting mechanics and movements through the use of drills that incorporate the proper movements of the swing to better the players' swing mechanics.

Defense session campers will be split into outfield and infield groups where high-level defense drills will be used to teach proper mechanics.

The blast motion session will teach hitters how to use their blast motion sensor, explain what data is gathered and how it can be used to make them a better hitter. Each camper will receive a blast motion sensor included in the registration fee.

The Rapsodo session will provide pitchers the opportunity to use Rapsodo technology to further their development. Each pitcher will receive a Rapsodo report. Rapsodo provides pitchers an MRI for their pitching, giving them the data to tell what their pitches are doing. This session teaches how to use the data to become a better pitcher and how to use it in the recruiting process.
