Soares Named Cyclone Club Student-Athlete of the Week

AMES, Iowa – Stephanie Soares has been named the Cyclone Club Student-Athlete of the Week after an impressive weekend in Portland with Iowa State women's basketball at the Phil Knight Invitational.
In two games last week, Soares led the Big 12 in points per game (21.0), rebounds per game (11.0), blocks per game (4.0) and was seventh in shooting percentage (54.8 percent).
Soares matched her career-high with 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a career-high six shots in an 80-49 win for the Cyclones against Michigan State. It was the fourth time in ISU history that a Cyclone has had at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in a game.
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native followed that up with another double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, in addition to a pair of blocks, against No. 8 North Carolina Sunday evening.
Next up, Soares and the No. 8 Cyclones host SIUE Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Tickets are available for purchase here.
