AMES, Iowa – Alexis Engelbrecht was named an Academic All-American, the College Sports Communicators announced Wednesday.
Engelbrecht picked up CSC Third Team Academic All-America honors with a 3.80 GPA while being a key to Iowa State's success in 2022. The middle blocker led the team with 16 solo blocks and 118 block assists for a total of 134, the seventh-highest single-season total in ISU history. Engelbrecht also delivered 175 total kills and set career highs of 12 kills (.524 hitting) at Baylor and .538 hitting vs. Missouri State.
The junior is the fourth in Iowa State history to earn Academic All-America honors and the first since 2017. Engelbrecht earns the honor following being named to the CSC All-District Team and moving on to the national ballot. Academic All-America teams are selected after earning votes from CSC members. A total of just 21 NCAA Division I student-athletes make up the Academic All-America teams.
