AMES, Iowa – Iowa State volleyball announced the addition of Chris Nook to the staff as Technical Coordinator. Nook joins ISU from Arkansas Tech, where he served as an assistant coach the past four seasons. Prior to his time with the Golden Suns, Nook has a background working in Division I volleyball, which included stops at Marquette, Florida, FGCU, VCU and Milwaukee.
As Technical Coordinator, Nook will handle Iowa State volleyball's video and scouting duties.
"Chris is a wonderful addition to our staff," Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said. "He is a very hard worker, diligent, experienced and knows the game at a high level. Chris has a unique skill set that make him a perfect fit for this position. He knows analytics and statistics very well, but he's also coached and can bridge the gap between what the numbers say and what's happening on the court. He will add a lot and we are thrilled to have him join our program."
Nook spent the past four seasons as an Assistant Coach at Arkansas Tech, helping guide the team to a GAC Tournament title and a trip to the 2021 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships. During his time in Russellville, Arkansas, Nook helped guide ATU to a 62-39 record.
Prior to ATU, Nook was the technical coordinator at Florida for three seasons, being a member of the Gators' staff when they reached the National Championship match in 2017 and claimed a pair of SEC regular season titles.
In 2014, Nook returned to his native Wisconsin to serve as the Director of Operations at Marquette, which he did after serving one year each as a volunteer coach at Florida Gulf Coast (2013 season) and VCU (2012). During his time at FGCU, he also served as an assistant coach for the Florida High Performance International Youth team and the USA South Volleyball Club.
A native of Franklin, Wisconsin, Nook graduated from Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2011 with his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and earned a Master of Business degree in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
