AMES, Iowa – Two of Iowa State's top track and field and cross country student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the classroom as Cailie Logue and Thomas Pollard were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Logue earned Academic All-District for a third-straight year, while Pollard made it for a second time. Their placement on the Academic All-District teams makes them eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams that will be announced next month.
Logue, a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American in 2021, had outstanding cross country and indoor track and field seasons before redshirting the outdoor season. The Erie, Kansas native earned her fourth career All-America honor with a fourth place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November. During the indoor track and field campaign, Logue collected her 11th career Big 12 title in the 5,000m run and was ranked in the top-30 nationally in the mile, 3,000m and 5,000m runs. Logue has collected a variety of academic awards in her career, being a nine-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree, a seven-time USTFCCCA All-Academic recipient, a three-time Big 12 Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Pollard, a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American in 2020, just wrapped up a decorated career as a Cyclone. In the fall, he earned All-America honors in cross country with his 21st place finish at the NCAA Championships, and became the first male in Big 12 history to earn All-Big 12 Cross Country honors five times. He recorded seven top-three finishes at the Big 12 Championships across his track and field career and was a two-time qualifier for the NCAA West Preliminaries in the 10,000m run. In the classroom, Pollard was a 10-time Academic All-Big 12 recipient, seven-time USTFCCCA Academic All-District and two-time Big 12 Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.
