AMES, Iowa – Former Iowa State men's golfer Lachlan Barker recently earned his PGA Tour Australia Card.
At the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School, Barker tied for fifth to earn a spot. The top 15 players on the leaderboard will start the season with Category Membership while players from 16-30 earn Full Tournament Membership status.
With a 286 over four rounds, Barker tied for fifth and was the highest finishing amateur at the event. In the second round, Barker shot a 66, as he was one of only two players that had a round of 66 or lower in the event. The winner, DJ Loypur, shot a 63 in the second round.
Barker was a four-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, while also being a two-time Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar. Barker also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team this year.
A three-time NCAA Regional participant, Barker led the Cyclones with a 72.16 stroke average and tallied a team-best 98 birdies this past season.
Over his career, Barker compiled the second-lowest stroke average in school history at 72.06. His 16 career top-10 finishes rank fifth in school history.
