AMES, Iowa – The 2024 indoor and outdoor track and field schedule has been finalized, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Jeremy Sudbury announced.
Indoor season will once again begin with the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, with distance runners heading to Boston on Dec. 2. Iowa State will then open its home slate Dec. 8-9 with the ISU Holiday Invitational. In January, the Cyclones will travel to the Hawkeye Invitational Jan. 13. Iowa State will then host the Cyclone Open on Jan. 19, while some Cyclones will compete at the New Balance Collegiate Showdown in Boston Jan. 19-20. The following weekend is the Razorback Invitational hosted by Arkansas.
The next month, the annual Iowa State Classic will be on Saturday, Feb. 3. On Feb. 9-10, the Cyclones will split up for the Tyson Invite, Husky Classic and the Valentine Invitational. Iowa State will also split for the Iowa Open and Arkansas Qualifier on Feb. 16. Indoor postseason begins with the Big 12 Championships Feb. 23-24 hosted by Texas Tech. NCAA Championships, held in Boston, will be March 8-9.
It will then be time for outdoor season, which will begin with the USF Bulls Invite in Tampa, Fla. March 15-16. The Stanford and Shocker Spring Invite will be next on March 29-30 before ISU heads to Miami, Fla. for the Miami Alumni Invite April 5-6. On April 12-13, Iowa State has two meets on the slate, the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa Pacific, Calif. and the Jim Duncan Invite in Des Moines. The Cyclones will once again compete at both the Drake and Penn Relays April 25-27, before hosting the ISU Alumni Open in Ames for the second year in a row on May 3.
Outdoor Big 12 Championships will be hosted by Baylor, with a Thursday through Saturday format on May 9-11. Arkansas hosts the 2024 edition of NCAA West Preliminaries on May 22-25 leading into NCAA Championships June 5-8 which return to Eugene, Oregon.
