AMES, Iowa – Iowa State freshman Noelle Adams has secured her third Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honor, the league announced Wednesday.
Adams, a Mesa, Ariz., native, set career highs on both the floor and beam over the weekend, crossing the 9.900 threshold for the first time this season.
In the Utah State tri-meet, Adams claimed the highest score from any Cyclone this season, no matter the event, on floor as she recorded a 9.950. Her floor score of 9.950 is tied for the seventh-highest floor score in school history.
In Monday night's meet at No. 36 Southern Utah, Adams broke her personal best on beam, earning a score of 9.925. The 9.925 on beam gave her the event title, making it her second of the evening as she also won the vault.
Adams joins Michelle Shealy (2011) as a three-time winner of the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award. No Cyclone has ever won the award four times in a single season.
Noelle has claimed ten event titles this season, including two this past week. She took both the beam and floor crown against Nebraska, the vault title at PSU, both vault and floor high-marks against BYU, the floor medal against Illinois State and the beam championship at Boise State. This weekend, Adams added the floor medal at Utah State with her 9.950 and both the VT and BB crown at Southern Utah.
Iowa State will be back in action this Saturday, March 2, as it travels to Raleigh, N.C., for a quad-meet against the No. 24 NC State Wolfpack, Northern Illinois and Temple. Saturday's meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. CT.
