Cyclones Unbeaten in Singles; Kuearum Advances at ITA’s

AMES, Iowa - Saturday marked a successful day for the Iowa State tennis program, as it saw Anna Supapitch Kuearum advance at the ITA All-American Championships, along with six Cyclones picking up a singles win in day two of the K-State invitational in Manhattan, Kansas.
Kuearum defeated USC's Lilly Fairclough, 6-4, 6-4, to open up the tournament in Cary, North Carolina. She'll face Daniela Rivera of East Tennessee State on Sunday at 10 a.m. (CT) to try and advance to the round of 32 for the first time in her career.
In Manhattan, the Cyclones posted an impressive 6-0 record in singles, with none of the wins needing a third set.
Ashlee Narker remained undefeated in the tournament, beating Kansas State's Veronika Kulhava, 7-6 (2), 6-2. Freshman Cristina Ramos Sierra kept her impressive weekend going by beating the Wildcats' Maralgoo Chogsomjav, 6-2, 7-5. Valeska San Martin Ramirez saw her first singles win of the weekend as she took down Arkansas' Morgan McCarthy, 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Julia Camblor defeated Razorback Lilitha Ndungane, 6-2, 6-2, to pick up her first collegiate singles win. The same went for Mari Paz Alberto Vilar after she knocked off Kansas State's Zali Morris, 6-1, 6-1. Suzanie Pretorius remained unbeaten on the weekend after beating South Florida's Gargi Pawar, 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles action, the Cyclones earned wins in two of their three matches. Narker and Ramos moved to 3-0 on the weekend as a duo after defeating Chogsomjav and Maria Santos, 6-3. Pretorius and San Martin improved to 2-0 by beating McCarthy and Jimena Gomez Alonso, 6-2. Freshmen Alberto and Camblor fell to Dharani Niroshan and Melisa Senli from South Florida, 6-1.
