PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The S.T.O.R.M. Program provides several opportunities for our student-athletes to become equipped with the tools necessary to successfully enter the workforce and navigate formal spaces. From internship interviews to the NFL Combine, understanding proper etiquette is a transferable skill that can be utilized across industries and environments. We take a multifaceted development approach through in-person sessions on professional presence, resume workshops, a formal etiquette dining experience and the opportunity to network in corporate settings.
ETIQUETTE DINNER
- Patricia Rossi, author of Everyday Etiquette, hosted an etiquette dinner for our final session of the Cyclone Path to Profession. In this session, our team was educated on the purpose of etiquette and learned the proper way to navigate a formal dining experience. From her teaching practices, our student-athletes participated in a formal sit-down dinner and practiced navigating networking spaces.

RESUME BUILDING
- Our student-athletes have unique journeys and have developed extremely valuable skills throughout their college experience. Podium X helps our athletes share their own story and showcase their special skills and abilities to future potential employers. Podium X changes the way our student-athletes prepare and apply for jobs and internships as well as market themselves for NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) opportunities.
PROFESSIONAL PRESENCE
- Will Baggett, author of The Blueprint for a Successful Career, hosted a professional presence session for the Cyclone Path to Profession. In this session, Baggett discussed methods to help young professionals make a lasting impression in their field through effective self-management tactics.
PROFESSIONALISM PRO DAY
- In collaboration with the Ames Chamber of Commerce, Professionalism Pro Day is an annual networking event that provides football student-athletes the opportunity to learn about different companies and fields of study that pique their interests. Each of the eight companies generously provide internship and job shadow opportunties to assist student-athletes in their pursuit of gaining valuable hands-on experience.
NFL PREP: NFL/NFLPA
- The NFL College Outreach Program and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) host annual sessions discussing what our student-athletes should expect at the next level, how the NFL Draft process works and how to make informed decisions as underclassmen.
