Downing On Ray Guy Award Candidate List

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State junior punter Colin Downing is one of 66 players on the Ray Guy Award candidate list, announced today by the Augusta Sports Council.
The Ray Guy Award is given out annually to the nation's best punter.
A native of Whitefish Bay, Wis., Downing is averaging 41.4 yards per punt this season with eight 50-yarders and 17 punts downed inside the opponents 20-yard line. In Big 12 play, Downing has the second-best punting average at 43.9 ypp with six 50-yarders. He booted a career-long 67-yard punt vs. Baylor.
Downing's career 40.4 yard per punt average is the eighth-best clip in school history.
