AMES, Iowa – Five former Iowa State football stars signed free agent contracts with NFL teams.
Jomal Wiltz (CB) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jhaustin Thomas (DE/DT) inked with the Indianapolis Colts, Nigel Tribune (CB) signed with the New York Giants, Nick Fett (OL) will get a try out with the Minnesota Vikings and Demond Tucker (DT) will attend camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wiltz was named ISU's top defensive player and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 pick in 2016. The Galena Park, Texas native started 11 of 12 games, tying for the team lead in interceptions (2) and ranking second on the team in passes defended (11).
He ended his two-year Cyclone career with 90 tackles and 17 passed defended.
Thomas, a native of Atlanta, Ga., was a second team All-Big 12 selection in 2016, leading the team in TFL (9.5). He also recorded 23 tackles and 3.0 sacks.
Tribune made 29 career starts in his career as a Cyclone. The Jacksonville, Fla., native ended his ISU career with 145 tackles, 27 passes defended and four interceptions.
A native of Audubon, Iowa, Fett thrived in his first season as a starting offensive lineman in 2016. Fett started all 12 games at three different positions, earning second team All-Big 12 accolades and the team's outstanding offensive lineman award.
Tucker was a two-time All-Big 12 selection and the winner of the 2015 Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year Award. The Hazelhurst, Miss., native recorded 73 tackles, 17.0 TFL and 6.0 sacks while starting 23 of 24 games in his two-year Cyclone career.
