AMES, Iowa – The future is bright for the Iowa State volleyball program, and more proof of that came last week when the Cyclones' incoming recruiting class was ranked as the 17th-best in the country by PrepVolleyball.com.
This marks the seventh time ISU's recruiting class has been ranked in PrpVolleyball.com's Top-25, and the third time in the last five years that ISU has had a top-20 recruiting class, with the class of 2015 that featured Hannah Bailey, Hali Hillegas and Jess Schaben ranking No. 8. ISU's 2012 class that included All-Americans Caitlin Nolan and Mackenzie Bigbee and All-Big 12 honoree Morgan Kuhrt is the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history at No. 6.
Iowa State's incoming group included three top-100 recruits, led by freshman setter Piper Mauck, who checked in at No. 24 in PrepVolleyball.com Class of 2017 rankings. Mauck, who is tied for third in terms of highest ranked recruits in ISU history, enrolled at ISU for the Spring 2017 semester and participated in spring volleyball practices and competitions.
The Cyclones' other top-100 incoming freshman are middle blockers Meegan Hart (No. 85) and Avery Rhodes (No. 91). Rhodes recently wrapped up her club volleyball career by helping lead her Austin Juniors Volleyball Club to the 18 USA division title at the 2017 USA Volleyball Girls' 18s Junior National Championships, and earning All-Tournament Team honors in the process.
Iowa State's final member of the recruiting class, Izzy Enna, also earned a title at GNJC 18s with her club team, KC Power, winning the 18 Open Division. Enna is a two-time PrepVolleyball.com "Defensive Dandy".
The 2017 Iowa State volleyball season will start on Friday, Aug. 25. The 2017 season schedule will be released at a later date.
