AMES, Iowa – NFL training camps are underway and a number of former Cyclones are battling for roster spots on various NFL teams.
2016 All-Pro and Pro-Bowler Kelechi Osemele, who was an All-American offensive lineman at Iowa State in 2011, is hoping to improve on his breakout initial season with Oakland Raiders in 2016.
The 2011 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year A.J. Klein enters his fifth season in the NFL. Klein played his first four years with the Carolina Panthers before signing with the New Orleans Saints, where he is eyeing one of the starting spots at linebacker.
Four Cyclone rookies are currently competing in training camps in Jarnor Jones (Atlanta Falcons), Jhaustin Thomas (Indianapolis Colts), Jomal Wiltz (Philadelphia Eagles) and Nigel Tribune (New York Giants).
Teams will announce their final 53-man rosters on Sept. 2.
