WACO, Texas (AP) - John Lucas scored 16 points, and Lawrence Roberts and Wendell Greenleaf added 15 and 14 to lead Baylor to a 79-74 win over Iowa State on Saturday.
Iowa State's Tyray Pearson led all scorers with 22 points with Marcus Jefferson and Jake Sullivan scoring 15 apiece.
Trailing 36-30 at the half, the Cyclones opened the second period with a 12-3 run and led 42-39 with just under 16 minutes to play.
On Baylor's next possession, Lucas tied the contest with a 3-pointer, and the Bears (11-3, 1-0 Big 12) never trailed again.
Iowa State (8-7, 0-1) closed to within four at 57-53 on Jefferson's 3-pointer with just under 9 minutes remaining, but Greenleaf matched it and was fouled on the shot by Shane Power.
Greenleaf sank the free throw and followed his four-point play with a steal and a dunk to put Baylor up 63-53, and Iowa State never mounted another comeback threat.
