KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. ? The Iowa State women's golf squad competes in its third event of the fall season when it travels to face a 19-team field at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club hosted by the College of Charleston Oct. 30-31. ISU has finished seventh at the Lady Badger Invitational and eighth at the Sunflower Invitational. The first two rounds will be played Monday followed by an 8:30 a.m. start for Tuesday's final round.
Iowa State has faced several teams scheduled to compete including Kansas State, Louisville, Arkansas-Little Rock and Wisconsin. The Cyclones are rated 84th of 227 teams in the Oct. 23 Golfweek rankings.
After two events, freshman Pennapa Pulsawath leads ISU in stroke average with a 77.83 mark through six rounds. Christi Athas (78.16) and Karly Pinder (78.50) recorded top-10 finishes at the Sunflower Invitational, placing 10th and ninth, respectively. Juniors Kendra Hanson (81.50) and Jessica Shin (82.33) round out the Cyclones' scoring.
The Cyclones close out the fall season at the three-day Aloha Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii, Nov. 22-24.
