Wagner Travels Home for Adidas Classic

Freshman hurdler Jenna Caffrey will be expected to fill the shoes of teammate Rebecca Williams this weekend. Williams will not be making the trip due to a job interview in
Leigh Wagner will be heading home this weekend to defend her high jump title at the Adidas Classic. Wagner's leap of 5-6 earned her first place at last years meet. Last week at the ISU Open, the senior's leap of 5-5 gave her a fifth-place finish overall. Wagner's best indoor jump of 5-8 came at last year's Big 12 Indoor Championships in the Bob Devaney Center where she finished ninth.
ISU Open 1,000-meter champion Jenny Mockler will be back in action for the Cyclones. The senior broke away from the competition and was first to cross the line with a time of 2:52.09. Mockler and Sara Boisen, the West Des Moines native, will compete in the 800-meter run. Last week, Boisen finished a close second behind UNI's Jamie Hutchinson with a time of 2:12.55. Her career best time is just over 2:10. Late Saturday, Boisen and Mockler will team up along with Caffrey and sprinter Leia Jackson to compete in the 4x400-meter relay.
After an impressive start to the 2007 season, freshman Lashawn Wright looks to continue excellence in her events. Wright finished second last week at the ISU Open in the 60-meter dash, recording a season-best time in prelims of 7.75. Wright will compete in the 60 and 200-meter dashes.
The Cyclone's past two meets saw many highlights including freshman distance runner Lisa Koll making her debut as a track runner breaking the ISU Open meet record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:40.72. However, Koll will not be competing at this weekend's classic.
Running events at the Adidas Classic will begin at 2 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles. Field events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with Amy Waggoner competing in the women's weight throw. Complete results will be posted following the conclusion of the meet on Saturday.
