Johnson Shines In First Athletes In Action Victory

HOBART, Australia?Iowa State sophomore forward Wesley Johnson helped his Athletes In Action team claim its first victory on its Australian Tour Tuesday. Johnson scored all 15 of his points in the first half of AIA's rout of the Tasmanian All-Stars, 125-92.

Johnson's strong performance in the opening period helped the Americans stake a 67-42 lead at the break. Johnson's squad travels to Perth on Wednesday to play three games with the NBL Perth Wildcats beginning on Thursday.

Diary #4: We got our first win the other night, defeating the Tasmanian All-Stars by over 30 points. I had 15 in the first half, but I didn't play in the second half because of a sore knee. I'm o.k. though. It just needs a little rest. We had a dunk contest the other day and I won it by going between my legs and then I did a couple of windmill dunks. They gave me a jersey signed by all the players for winning, so that was cool. We are going to the zoo today, so I am looking forward to that. I wish I could be in Ames for the Cyclone Fan Fest (Sun., Aug. 19). I am sure everyone will have a good time there.
