ATLANTA - Iowa State senior guard Kelsey Bolte has been added to the 2010-11 State Farm Wade Watch List, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), on behalf of the Wade Trophy Coalition, announced today.
Bolte joins Louisiana Tech's Adrienne Johnson as the final two additions to the prestigious list of 34 players, who are under consideration for the State Farm Wade Trophy - the Division I women's basketball equivalent of college football's Heisman Trophy.
Bolte, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, leads the Cyclones in scoring (17.6 ppg) and steals (27). The 6-1 senior guard is one of the nation's top shooters, ranking 12th in three-point field goal percentage (44 percent) and 25th in three-pointers made per game (2.7). She is also seventh nationally in free-throw percentage (90.7). Bolte has 12 20-point games this season, including seven of 25 points or more.
Bolte is one of four Big 12 players on the list, joining Texas A&M's Danielle Adams, Baylor's Brittney Griner and Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson.
State Farm and the Wade Trophy Coalition each year present The State Farm Wade Trophy to the nation's most outstanding NCAA® Division I women's basketball player - one who not only excels athletically but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court. The acclaimed Wade Watch list, from which The State Farm Wade Trophy recipient is chosen, is composed of players selected on the basis of game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.
The State Farm Wade Trophy Committee will trim the Watch list to 12 finalists in mid-March. State Farm and the Wade Trophy Coalition will officially announce the State Farm Wade Trophy winner during the WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Indianapolis.
