ST. LOUIS – Iowa State 165-pound wrestler Andrew Sorenson gave it his all. But a severely sprained ankle suffered in his second-round match Thursday limited his ability to attack and defend and the senior fell one match short of All-America honors, losing to Ben Jordan of Wisconsin, 6-2 Friday in the Scottrade Center.
Sorenson ended his season with a 28-4 record and finished his career with a mark of 93-31.
“Andrew gave his all, not just tonight but since he came to Iowa State,” Iowa State head coach Kevin Jackson said. “He has also been a great representative of our program in every way. It's tough when you do all the right things and fate steps in. One team and 10 wrestlers leave this tournament happy. We had four wrestlers make their first appearance at the NCAA Tournament and they have each learned from this experience."
