How it happened…
Iowa State had no ill effects from an 11-day layoff. Naz Long hit four 3-pointers in the first eight minutes of the contest to put the Cyclones ahead 21-7. Long's last two treys were a part of a 13-0 Cyclone run.
The lead grew even larger late in the first half when the Cyclones made eight consecutive field goals to go into the break with a 47-18 lead. ISU shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the opening period. Long led the way with 12 points.
The 33 points allowed by the Cyclones is the lowest by an opponent since beating Colorado 40-31 on Jan. 24, 1949.
The #cyclONEgameball goes to…
Naz Long. The junior sharpshooter was feeling it, making 7-of-his-10 shots from 3-point point range en route to a team-high 24 points.
Long, who made all of his three 3-point attempts in the second half, now has two of the top-16 single-game 3-pointers made efforts in school history. Long was one shy from his career high of eight he set last season vs. UNC-Wilmington.
