AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team will add Spanish prep star, Jorge Utrilla, to its roster, head coach
Andrew Tank announced today.
Utrilla signed his letter of intent to play golf at Iowa State and will begin school in 2014-15.
A native of Zaragoza, Spain, Utrilla attends the Blume Residence High School in Madrid, a center for high performing athletes that has churned out stars on the links like Sergio Garcia and current Iowa State standout
Scott Fernandez.
Utrilla is currently a member of the Spanish National Team. He was the winner of the 2012 16U Spanish National Championship.
“I am excited to welcome Jorge to the program next fall,” Tank said. “He is a strong player and committed student with a strong work ethic. He has had a great support system on the Spanish National Team and I look forward to helping him reach his goals here at Iowa State.”
