Cyclones Finish Third at the Git R Done Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - Three Cyclones finish in the Top-10 as Iowa State places third at their first Git R Done Invitational, carding a 279-283-280 (-10). Iowa State's 54-hole score of 842 ties the 16th-lowest mark in school history. ISU shot the second-lowest scores on both Par 4's (-4) and Par 5's (-16), and tallied the third-most birdies (58) and pars (165).
Owen Sawyer tied the second-lowest round of his career (67) in today's final round to finish in a tie for 5th (-4), his second Top-5 finish. Sawyer finished Top-5 in the field in Par 3 scoring (E, T3rd), Par 5 scoring (-5, T4th), and in birdies (15, T4th) to help cement the second-best finish of his career. Jackson McCommon places the best finish of his career (7th) after carding a 68 today, the second-lowest round of his career. McCommon finished the week with two rounds in the 60's after previously carding just three in his first two years combined. The junior from Memphis, Tenn. tied his lowest 54-hole score (210), finished fourth in Par 4 scoring (-6), and tallied 13 birdies to finish the tournament three-under par.
Paul Beauvy was the third Cyclone in the Top-10, tying for 8th (-2), his 12th Top-10 finish of his career. Beauvy tied for the fifth-lowest score on Par 4's (-4) and carded 10 birdies in his three rounds. Zach May shot two-over par to finish tied for 24th. May totaled nine birdies in the tournament.
Freshman Julian Geerebaert ties for 31st (+4). Geerebaert shot four-under par on Par 5's, tied for the seventh-lowest mark in the field, and finished with eleven birdies. Drew Hensen (Ind.) wraps up his first career tournament tied for 18th place, shooting +1. Hensen finishes with seven birdies, shot the second-most pars in the field (39) and carded the seventh-lowest score on Par 5's (-4).
Host Nebraska wins on their home course, finishing at -29. Nebraska's Rudy Sautron shot a 64 in the final round to tie Kansas State's Alex Lindstrom at -13 to share medalist honors at the Git R Done Invitational.
The Cyclones get a four week break in between their next tournament, the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. The event will take place in Loxley, Ala. starting on Saturday, Oct. 25th.
