Zach May Ties for Second at the Shortened Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. - Weather conditions haulted the final round at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, forcing the tournament to finish after two rounds. Zach May tied for 2nd (-6), and had a team-high ten birdies. His 68 in the first round was the third-lowest score in the round, and May's 15th round in the 60's of his career. The junior tied the second-lowest score on Par 3's (-1) and tied the fourth-lowest score on Par 4's (-3) in the tournament. The Cyclones finished in ninth place (287-292, +3) after the first two rounds.
Paul Beauvy tied for 12th (-1) and also tied for second on Par 3 and tied for fourth on Par 4 scoring. Beauvy had eight birdies and carded his 25th round in the 60's in the first round (69). Jackson McCommon finishes tied for 54th (+6). McCommon carded five birdies to surpass 100 birdies on his career (102).Â
Luke Metcalf played in his first tournament of the year, where he also tied for 54th, finishing with six birdies. Dianchao Wu rounds out the Cyclones, tied for 61st at seven-over par. Wu totaled six birdies and an eagle, his second of his career.Â
#38 Texas A&M wins the shortened Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, finishing ten strokes under par after a nine-under second round. #66 Yixiang Wang from Memphis won the individual race at seven-under par after carding a 66 in the first round.
The Cyclones have finished the 2025 fall season, and will kick off the 2026 spring season in Tucson, Ariz. at the N.I.T. starting Monday, January 26th.
