Cyclones Finish in Eleventh at the Big 12 Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Cyclones finish the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship in 11th, carding a 292-283-282-287=1144Â (+24). Their 72-hole score is the lowest in a conference tournament in program history. ISU tied the fifth-lowest final round score in the tournament, in a round where no team shot below-par. Iowa State finishes the tournament fourth in Par 4 scoring (+29) and seventh in pars (221).
In a day where Prairie Dunes CC played the toughest out of all four rounds, Zach May tied the second-lowest final round score in the field, shooting two-under par to jump 17 spots and tie for 14th (+2). May made a push for the top-10, starting off his second nine four-under before bogeying his final two holes of the day. May's 68 in the final round is his 20th round in the 60's in his career, and ties the third-lowest round in a conference tournament in school history. His 72-hole score of 282 is the lowest in ISU history in a conference tournament. The senior carded 10Â birdies across four rounds and an eagle in the final round, his third this season and 10th of his career.
Dianchao Wu ties the fourth-lowest 72-hole score in a conference tournament in school history, shooting a 287 (+7) to tie for 32nd. Wu finishes in a tie for ninth in Par 4 scoring at +1, and tallied 11 birdies in the tournament. Owen Sawyer finishes in a tie for 42nd at nine-over par, carding the seventh-lowest 72-hole score at 289. Sawyer totaled 11 birdies the past three days.
Paul Beauvy finishes in 57th (+13) after shooting a career-high round of 79 today. The senior carded a team-high 13 birdies across his four rounds. Beauvy, who holds the lowest career stroke average in school history (71.52), hopes to hear his name called as an individual into the NCAA Regionals if the Cyclones don't make it as a team. Jackson McCommon finishes in 69th at +19, grabbing six birdies.
#5 Oklahoma State (-10) goes wire-to-wire to earn the Big 12's automatic bid into the NCAA Regionals for the second-consecutive season, marking their 13th Conference title, the most in Big 12 history. The Cowboys' #3 Preston Stout goes even-par today to win his third straight conference individual title at -11, the first Big 12 player in history to do so to fend off BYU's freshman #7 Kihei Akina (-8).
The Cyclones hope to have done enough during the season to warrant an at-large bid into the NCAA Regionals. The 2026 NCAA DI Men's Golf Selection Show is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th at 1 p.m. CTÂ on the GOLF Channel.
