Cyclones Finish in Eleventh at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - The Cyclones finish the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in 11th place out of 25 teams, carding a team score of 272-292-298=862 (-2). Iowa State's first round score of 272 (-16) tied the lowest round in the field, is the second-lowest round this season and tied the tenth-lowest round in school history. Iowa State finished second in Par 3 scoring (+2), fifth in Par 5 scoring (-21), and led the field in eagles (3).
Paul Beauvy led the way for the Cyclones, shooting five-under par to tie for 12th place, his seventh top-15 finish this season. Beauvy tied a career-low round in the first round with a 64, his ninth round in the 60's this season. The senior carded a team-high 15 birdies, tied for fifth-most in the field. Owen Sawyer finishes tied for 43rd at even-par following a 68 in the first round, his eighth sub-70 round this season. Sawyer tallied 13 birdies in his three rounds. Dianchao Wu also tied for 43rd (E), totaling 10Â birdies and an eagle, his third this season and fourth as a Cyclone.
Zach May finishes tied for 64th at +4, carding two rounds below par. May finished seventh in Par 5 scoring (-6), carded eight birdies and an eagle in the second round, his second this season and ninth of his career. Jackson McCommon tied for 104th (+12), tallying six birdies and an eagle, his fifth this season and ninth of his career.
#28 USC narrowly defeats #46 Arkansas State by one stroke to win the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at -26. Arkansas State's #63 Thomas Schmidt earns medalist honors, carding a 203 (-13).
The Iowa State men's golf team head to Columbia, Mo. next week for the Tiger Collegiate Invitational, its final event before the Big 12 Championship. The tournament starts on Monday, April 6th and concludes Tuesday, April 7th.
