HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The first day of the 2014 NCAA Men's Golf Championship was interrupted by four weather delays resulting in a total of eight hours of delay. Play at the Prairie Dunes Country Club was officially suspended for the remainder of the first round at 6 p.m.
Fifteen of the 30 teams competing were able to at least complete one hole, including Iowa State. The Cyclones actually started out strong in their limited holes. Ruben Sondjaja and Collin Foster were both even through four holes. Sam Daley was 1-under through two holes and Scott Fernandez carded a birdie on the first hole before heading into the clubhouse. Jack Carter was +1 after three holes.
Play will resume at 7 a.m. CT tomorrow morning. Efforts will be made to play as many as holes as possible to get 36 holes in after two days.
