- Iowa State looks to move to 2-0 Monday night when it faces Chicago State in the home opener at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones earned a six point win against Colorado Friday night in the opener of the Steve Prohm era...Prohm is the 17th of 20 ISU head coaches to win his opening game.
- The win was the 18th season-opening victory in a row for the Cyclones. ISU connected on just 2-of-10 threes in the win, but dominated inside the paint (52-24)...the Cyclones' 10 threes attempted were their fewest since January 10, 2010.
- The Cyclones' new look defense allowed Colorado to score just 62 points and forced the Buffs into 18 turnovers, which matched their season high from a season ago...the Cyclones had runs of 10-0, 8-0 and 8-0 in the win over Colorado, stringing together multiple stops as hoped for by Prohm.
- ISU played just seven players in the season opener against Colorado, the fewest since Glen Anderson used seven in a four point win against Air Force in the first game of the 1965-66 season.
- The Cyclones are opening their 45th season at Hilton Coliseum, owning a record of 508-167 at home since the doors opened on Dec. 2, 1971...ISU is 62-5 at home in the last four seasons.
- The Cyclones, who are 88-20 in home openers, have won 27 consecutive non-conference games at Hilton Coliseum...the 27-game streak is the fourth longest in the nation and the third longest in school history...a win against Chicago State would tie the Cyclones for the second-longest streak in school history (28, 1998-2001).
- The Cyclones were ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press preseason poll, the highest preseason ranking in school history. This was the fifth time in school history that the Cyclones have been ranked in the preseason poll with the previous top ranking (9) coming in 1996-97 under Tim Floyd. The Cyclones have been ranked in a school-record 38 consecutive polls.
- Georges Niang was in double figures for the 81st time in his career against Colorado, finishing with a game-high 17 points...Niang now sits just four points shy of Andrew Parker (1976-79) for 14th and 12 shy of Craig Brackins (2008-2010) for 13th on ISU's all-time scoring chart.
In his first start as a Cyclone, senior Abdel Nader scored all 14 of his points after halftime, hitting 6-of-9 field goals after the break...he played a career-high 36 minutes in the win.
- Nazareth Mitrou-Long fared well in his return from hip surgery...the senior finished 5-of-9 from the field and hit ISU's only two threes en route to 13 points...Mitrou-Long has now hit 148 career three-pointers, ranking fifth in school history.
- Jameel McKay had 10 rebounds against Colorado, his second game in a row dating back to last season with double-digits boards...McKay has double-figure rebounds in five of the last eight games...the shot blocker, who one block against CU, now has at least a single block in 22 of his 26 career games.
- ISU struggled from the line against CU, hitting just 8-of-15 from the charity stripe.
- The Cyclones are just the second Colorado opponent in the last 13 games to outrebound the Buffs (43-38) dating back to last season...the Cyclones were outrebounded in four of their final five games last season.

Last Time Out - Cyclones Hold Off Colorado In Opener
- Iowa State won its 18th consecutive season opener Friday with a 68-62 win against Colorado at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- The Cyclones hit just two threes in the game, both by Mitrou-Long, but had four players in double figures led by Niang's 17 points. Abdel Nader finished with 14 points and Mitrou-Long (13) and Morris (12) were also in double figures.
- The Cyclones held a 43-38 edge on the glass, paced by McKay's 10 rebounds.
- Morris had three of Iowa State's seven steals.
- The Cyclones outscored the Buffs, 52-24, in the paint.
Series Notes vs. Chicago State...
- Iowa State and Chicago State face off for the eighth time with the Cyclones holding a 7-0 record in the all-time series...all seven meetings have come at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones are 12-0 all-time against teams currently in the Western Athletic Conference.
- The last meeting came on December 21, 2010 with the Cyclones beating the Cougars, 104-63...ISU had six players in double figures, led by 18 from Melvin Ejim and Diante Garrett.
- Chicago State head coach Tracy Dildy played at Hilton Coliseum for his alma mater, Illinois-Chicago, a game the Cyclones won 111-93...Dildy started the game at point guard and scored five points before fouling out in the final minute.
