Kemboi Named Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas- Iowa State senior track and field runner Edward Kemboi was named the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. This is the first time that the Eldoret, Kenya native has won the award.

Kemboi continued his national dominance, Saturday, running the nation's fastest time in the 800-meter run (1:46.09). The three-time All-American entered the weekend with the second-fastest time nationally, but cruised to a first place finish at the Iowa State Classic defeating second-ranked Andres Arroyo of Florida and fifth-ranked Jesse Garn of Binghamton by more than half of a second in the race.

Kemboi and the Cyclones are set to host the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28.
