Cyclones 10th After Two Rounds at NCAA Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 34 Iowa State women's golf team is in a tie for 10th (606) through two rounds at the NCAA Raleigh Regional at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The Cyclones matched their first round score with another 303 this afternoon to move up two spots in the team race. South Carolina is the second-round leader at 581.
The Cyclones were led by true freshman Celia Barquin, who fired a 2-under 70 this afternoon to jump into the top-10 (ninth) at 145. Barquin had three birdies on her card and her only blemish was a bogey on the 18th hole. Barquin's 70 tied for the second-lowest score of the day.
Right behind Barquin is senior Chonlada Chayanun, who is in a tie for 10th at 146. Chayanun fired a 74 this afternoon after a first-round 72. Nattapan Siritrai is tied for 67th at 156.
The top six teams in the tournament will advance to the NCAA Golf Championships, May 22-27 in Bradenton, Fla. The low three individuals not among the top-six teams advancing will also qualify for the NCAA finals. Both Barquin and Chayanun are still in the hunt for an individual spot.
The final round concludes tomorrow with 18 holes.
