IRVING, Texas – Iowa State women's soccer sophomore Lindsey Hendon claimed her second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor, the league announced Tuesday. Hendon has captured two of the first three Defensive Player of the Week honors, as Iowa State has tallied a league-high four Big 12 honors.
Hendon, a sophomore from Lakewood, Colorado, posted her fourth shutout of the season on Friday in a 3-0 win over Colorado College. In the win, Hendon recorded six saves for the Cyclones. Against Colorado, Hendon held the Buffaloes scoreless for 82 minutes before allowing the equalizer. Iowa State would fall in overtime, 2-1, to Colorado, with Hendon tallying seven saves.
Hendon currently ranks first in the Big 12 with four shutouts on the season and is second in the Big 12 with 28 saves.
Iowa State returns to the field on Friday, when it takes on Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series at 6:30 p.m. CT in Iowa City, Iowa.
